Don’t Delete Folders and Files in Your Account !
When you initially log into the root of your account, dependant upon the method which you choose to log in, you will see various hidden files and directories, among them, the two that hold the most important are public_html, www, and public_ftp directories.
DO NOT DELETE OR RENAME any of these directories or any hidden files that you may find. These directories are automatically set up by the system and required in order for your account to function. Deleting or renaming any of them will cause fatal errors that can only be repaired by deleting and resetting your account.
Of these directories, the ONLY ONE that is important to you is the “www” and “public_html” directory. This is the directory where you will upload your web pages and create other subdirectories that will pertain to your web site and be viewable from your web browser. Your pages WILL NOT be viewable on a web browser unless they are uploaded to this directory.
When you initially enter your “public_html” or “www” directory, you will see only one directory, which is your CGI-bin. The CGI-bin is where you upload your CGI scripts. DO NOT DELETE OR RENAME your CGI-bin.
How do I clear my web browser’s cache?
The cache is a block of memory used for the temporary storage of data (ie: webpages, etc..) that is likely to be used again. Your CPU and hard drive frequently use a Cache, as do web browsers and web servers. A Cache is made up of a pool of entries. Each entry has a piece of data or a copy of the original information which can be stored in multiple locations. Each entry also has a tag, which specifies the identity of that particular piece of data in your storage. When the Cache client (web browser, ISP, or operating system) wishes to access this data it first checks the Cache. This helps save time and reduces the workload on the system using the Cached client. If you use your web browser and an entry can be found with a tag matching that of the desired data, then the Cached version is used instead. This situation is known as a Cache Hit. When the Cache is consulted and found not to contain data with the desired tag, it is known as a Cache Miss.
So, for example, a web browser program might check its Local Cache stored on your computer to see if it has a local copy of the contents of a web page based on a particular URL. In this example, the URL is the tag, and the contents of the web page are the data. The percentage of accesses that result in Cache Hits or Cache Misses is known as the Hit Rate or Hit Ratio of the cache.
Most systems fetch and retrieve updated versions of your stored data or Cache every 24-72 hours. This means that your ISP and your local system can at any time have an out of date version of your data (i.e. website) in its Cache. If you have updated your website, migrated servers, or changed web hosts you may not immediately see the changes you made. This could be because your local system has an out of date copy or your ISP’s system has not clear their Master Cache. Follow the steps below to clear your local systems Cache first. If this does not do the trick then you may need to contact your ISP and request they manually flush their current cache. Depending on the ISP if they refuse you will have to wait for them to automatically clear their Cache which may take 24-72 hours for them to do.

How to Ping a Website?
Windows (Latest)
If you are having problems resolving your website, you can ping it to see if it is a problem with your server, or if there is a problem somewhere on the internet as the connection travels from your computer’s internet access through to the domain in question.
Here is how to Ping
From the desktop, click start
Type cmd in Search programs and files and press Enter.
The DOS window will pop up. At the C:\WINDOWS> prompt type ping www.yourdomainname and press enter.
You will see some results pass through the screen.
It will tell you if there were any packets lost in the transfer (0% loss is what you want to see).
It will also tell you the average speed, in milliseconds.
To close the DOS window, type exit at the C:\WINDOWS> prompt and press enter.

How To Re Automate Live Streaming With Windows Media Encoder?
1. Save your Current Windows Media Encoder session
configuration as C:\encoderconfig.wme Session
2. Download this Zip file and unzip the two files ( reconnect.vbs and startencoding.bat ) onto your C:\
3. Test the files: €¢ Make sure Windows Media Encoder isn’t currently running, and test the startencoding.bat file by double-clicking it. You should see Windows Media Encoder startup, and a few seconds later start encoding. €¢ Click “Stop Encoding” in your encoder and wait 10 seconds. You should see your encoder automatically start encoding again. €¢ If the encoder never started encoding and didn’t display an error, make sure reconnect.vbs is located on your C:\. You may also try double-clicking it manually to test if it works (while the encoder is open).
4. If the test passed, place a shortcut to startencoding.bat in your Startup directory by dragging it to Start -> Programs -> Startup
5. Make sure your computer is set to automatically login.
Startup
Reboot the computer and make sure Windows Media Player starts and begins encoding. You may also want to check your computer’s BIOS to make sure the power state will always be “ON” or “LAST” after a power outage. If it is set to “OFF”, the most common default, your computer will not reboot in the case of a power outage. Now you don’t have to worry about power outages or network anomalies, knowing that your encoding machine will always be encoding. Enjoy your newly found freedom!
I already have a domain registered, Can I host it with Rasterbase?
Updated my Domain but still see old pages?
There is no reason why a page should not update immediately if you force your browser to refresh from the domain (control-refresh in IE and shift-refresh in Netscape). Remember the transparent proxy is not the only place where caching is done. Copies are saved in your own computer’s cache for quick reference, and there may be any number of cache operations at any point in the path from the customer to that site’s server.
If you updated your site, but still can’t see it updated, then its most probably your computer cache is the refreshed you just need to please (ctrl +f5) or need to delete your internet cache, history, and cookies.
After doing this your pages will be showing updated immediately.

What is a domain transfer?
A domain transfer is a process in which a domain is moved from one domain registrar to another registrar. There are many reasons why owners of a domain may choose to transfer their domain to another registrar, for example price, quality of customer service, etc.
The domain name keeps working as it is and the whole transfer process is transparent. In most cases, each domain transfer will be automatically renewed for 1 year from the current expiration date.
In order to complete a domain transfer successfully from your current registrar to Rasterbase, you need to be sure of the following items:
1. You are the OWNER or ADMIN CONTACT of the domain name and your email address is listed in domain whois record accordingly. In order to complete your domain name Registrar Transfer, we require approval from the domain’s Administrative Contact, this request is sent in an e-mail. If the e-mail address is invalid on the current domain registration information, your transfer may be denied.
2. “Domain Lock” must be disabled BEFORE you submit for the transfer. (you must go to your current registrar to find out if this has been disabled on your domain)
3. You can NOT transfer an expired domain. Expired domain names go to the Redemption Period for 30 days or even longer and cannot be transferred.
4. One Year Auto-Renewal/Extension with the transfer. In most of the cases, each domain transferred to Rasterbase will be automatically renewed for another 1 year from the current expiration date.
Registry services can also Deny a Change Registrar Request if:
Invalid or missing Auth Code (Only .org, .info and .biz domains require an auth code).
The domain owner can not accept e-mail to his administrative contact record e-mail address. (you may view the current registration information by going to your current registrar and performing a “whois” on your domain)
Domain payment is not current – expired domains can NOT be transferred.
A domain cannot be transferred within the first 60 days after it has been registered. Transfers within the first 60 days will be automatically declined. However initiating a transfer will cause you to be charged through us.
The domain is involved in a legal dispute, if your domain is the subject of litigation, involved in a bankruptcy, trademark dispute, or dispute over ownership of registrant your request will be declined.
The domain is locked.
What’s the difference between domain registration and web hosting?
Domain registration gives you a name to identify your website, but you still need a place on the Internet to store your actual website. This service of making your website available on the Internet is called web hosting. As a simple analogy, a domain name is like the address of your house, and web hosting is the actual house itself.
Why is it important to have website for your business?
With over 2.2 billion people online, the internet has revolutionized how we find and share information. The online world is moving at a rapid pace and doesn’t show any signs of slowing. For businesses, a web presence has become a fundamental part of success. But why is a presence on the web so important? How significant is the impact of being online? We’re glad you asked.
Because people are online – If you’re looking for an audience, more customers, or people to influence, the web is where your business needs to be. With over 78% of adult Americans using the Internet and an astounding 2.2 billion people online worldwide, it’s no surprise that small businesses with websites experience an average of 39% greater revenue per year than those without websites, according to the Small Business Administration.
Being Found – The #1 go-to place when someone is looking for your business is your website. People search through search engines like Google or Bing, not via Face book for fan pages.
Opportunity – A website allows for a much more robust experience for visitors than most other platforms. This means that you can be more efficient at providing visitors the information that they’re looking for, as well as the opportunity to create web applications for more value to your visitors.
Branding – Websites also allow you more control over your branding. While sites like Facebook allow some customization, it’s still inside Facebook’s shell. Companies are able to control all aspects of a design with a website.
Growth Opportunity – A website serves as a great place to refer potential investors, to show them what your company is about, what it has achieved, and what it can achieve in the future.
Market Expansion – The Internet has allowed businesses to break through the geographical barriers and become accessible, virtually, from any country in the world by a potential customer that has Internet access.
Diversify Revenue Streams – A website is not just a medium for representation of your company, it is a form of media from which everybody can acquire information. You can use this media to sell advertising space to other businesses.
A recent trend has risen where businesses feature their very own directory of complimentary services, where the visitor can search for information on a business that will enhance the use of your service. The business sells complimentary businesses a listing in their directory. A good example is a catering company featuring a directory with businesses such as event co-coordinators, electronic equipment rental companies, etc
24 hours a day, 365 days of the year – No more turning customers away when its time to close shop, putting up a note saying closed for a public holiday, or leaving an irritating message on your answering service specifying your trading hours tell them to visit your website for information they are looking for.
Offer Convenience – It is far more convenient for a person to research a product on the Internet than it is to get in a car, drive somewhere and look for or ask someone for information on a product. Also, a potential customer won t have to judge a call center agent to determine whether he/she has their best interests in mind, or just wants to make a sale.
The potential customer can visit your website whenever they like in their own privacy and comfort, without the stresses and distractions that exist in the real world.
Your website is a self-service medium for example, instead of having to wait in a long cue to pay your TV License, you can now do it electronically through the TV License website.
Add Value and Satisfaction – By offering convenience, a point of reference, and that touch of individualized customer service, you ultimately add value to your offering and your customers experience a higher level of satisfaction.
Your website can add value in other ways too, by featuring tips, advice, and general interest content you can entertain your customers. This will also help them remember you better.
Two-Way Communicative Marketing – Customers can quickly and easily give feedback on your product and/or marketing approach.
Cheap Market Research – You can use features on your websites such as visitor polls, online surveys and your website statistics to find out what your customers like more and how they feel about certain aspects of your business to determine how you can improve your product and the way you do business.
Website statistics show you how much traffic your website receives, how the visitor got to your website, and where, geographically, the visitor is from.
Where and How to upload Files?
Capnel Hosting
ALL files must be uploaded to your “public_html” or “www” directory when your hosting panel is Cpanel.
Plesk Hosting
ALL files must be uploaded to your “httpdocs directory
In both cases you can use File Manager in your hosting panel to upload files. This however, is a relatively more time-consuming process. We recommend that you use standard FTP client to upload your files to the server. Files are uploaded to your account via FileZilla, WS_FTP, CuteFTP, or Fetch or any other FREE FTP program that you may prefer.
